I have been living aboard in Japan for over 5 years and it is the time where one would start to miss home. Don't get me wrong, Japan is great. I love the food (most of it that is cooked) and it's culture. I have been living in the states since childhood and there are things I missed doing and the food I enjoy most just aren't available here.
One thing I missed most is listening to my favorite radio station, KROQ. I love Kevin & Bean in the mornings not to mention alternative rock is my favorite type of music. For whatever reasons, I imagine legal reasons. Anyone streaming live radio stations from outside the USA, are prompted with an error message or no messages at all. Leaving us to wonder, is there something wrong with our pc, Internet, or both? Let me tell you, there is nothing wrong with your pc. It is state or federal law that prohibits you from listening from outside United States. It doesn't matter what law it is; it don't work.
Well, I am here to tell you there is a way around this silly block. It's very simple. You need to connect via a proxy ip that is from USA. Just grab yourself 1 proxy from proxy-n-vpn for $2.80/month and you are on your way. The set-up is fairly simple. Within minutes, you can be listening to your favorite radio station back home. Having a proxy isn't limited to just that. There are many usages for using a proxy. If you have been restricted from a site that doesn't allow connection from where you are, simple use that proxy and browse freely. In addition, you can also use the proxy to browse the web anonymously.
If you have further questions or don't know how to set it up, drop me an email. I am more than happy to assist.
